GUSTAVO BITENCOURT (1976) lives in Curitiba, Brazil. He is performer, writer, director, among other things. Has a Bachelor´s Degree in Arts (Linguistics) in Universidade Federal do Paraná, and currently attends the Philosphy course in the same university. In 1996, adapted and produced the play Dorian Gray. Acted in plays such as Dorian Gray (1996), As flores q a fala oculta (The flowers behind the speech - 2000), O vale das percepções (The valley of perceptions - 2002), Colônia Penal (In the penal Colony 2001).

Teaches in body conscience workshops for actors and dancers since 1999.

From 2001 to 2003 ran, together with videomaker Cristiano Balzan, the Snuffmovies - video/electronic music project. Produced, among other videos, Pimp (Lucky Strike Lab Award Winner, screened at Santo André Movie Festival, Festival do Livre Olhar, Recife Movie Festival 2002, Mostra Banco do Brasil 2003), Romeu é um peixe no aquário (Mixbrasil 2002 Winner, screened in Santo André Movie Festival, Festival do Livre Olhar 2003, Recife Movie Festival 2002, Banco do Brasil Film Show 2003, NY Xperimento Film Festival, Sidney Mardi Gras Festival), and Tabaco! (Festival do Livre Olhar 2003 Film Editing Award winner).

In 2004, was a fellow of Casa Hoffmann International Center for Movement Studies, in Brazil. Took workshops with artists such as Xavier Le Roy, Simone Augtherlony, Tere O'Connor, Margarita Guergue, Ko Murobushi, Deborah Hay, Fabiana Britto, Dani Lima, Juán Dominguez, among others. Organized and curated the Performance Act Series at Casa Hoffmann, and translated several articles for Relâche Journal.

During the fellowship period, created/developed works such as Poser, O laboratório multiceptivo do Dr. Schwitters (The Multiceptive Lab of Dr. Schwitters), and Two hearts and one baby or Open it up #2 [Emocore Cardio Dub Edit]. This latter was in a project called Mostra Tudo - a collective of 7 emerging contemporary creators - which was granted with a special funding by Brazilian Cultural Department in 2004. The collective presented in several Brazilian cities, such as Belo Horizonte, Porto Alegre, and Londrina.

Most recently directed Hamlet, Prince of Denmark (2005), which is a conceptual theater approach of the general structure of Shakespeare´s play.

Currently develops the projects Hot, wild, loud - a solo investigation about the influence of rock´n´roll in contemporary bodies which uses directed interviews by e-mail as the main research materials; and Board [Jogos de mesa] an intervention based on a game structure that takes place in bars and restaurants.
